About TerraCycle
Overconsumption and a throwaway culture have led to a global waste crisis. While even complex trash is technically recyclable, most materials are not profitable to recycle. As a result, waste piles up in landfills and pollutes our planet while virgin materials are extracted from the earth to create new products.

The TerraCycle Global Foundation, our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, reduces the flow of plastic waste from rivers and canals before it can ever reach the ocean. In close partnership with local communities, we design world-class river waste prevention, collection, and recycling solutions for regions that suffer the most from heavily polluted waterways.

Advocacy
Our programs are a response to the environmental problem of trash that has been growing since the 1950s. We advocate for meaningful, practical solutions to the waste crisis, like buying less and designing for recyclability. We sit on the board of Product Stewardship Institute (PSI); participate in and chair committees on the circular economy for the World Economic Forum and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation; and support local, national, and global organizations on topics like developing extended producer responsibility. We are members of the US, UK, Canadian, and ANZ Plastics Pacts, an advisory Board Member for Sustainability in Packaging and the Ocean Plastics Leadership Network, and much more.
