Overconsumption and a throwaway culture have led to a global waste crisis. While even complex rubbish is technically recyclable, most materials are not profitable to recycle. As a result, waste piles up in landfills and pollutes our planet while virgin materials are extracted from the earth to create new products.

The TerraCycle Foundation, our 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation, reduces the flow of plastic waste from rivers and canals before it can ever reach the ocean. In close partnership with local communities, we design world-class river waste prevention, collection, and recycling solutions for regions that suffer the most from heavily polluted waterways.

Advocacy
Our programmes are a response to the environmental problem of trash that has been growing since the 1950s. We advocate for meaningful, practical solutions to the waste crisis, like buying less and designing for recyclability. We serve on the board of directors with the D'Addario Foundation and on the Corporate Advisory Council of the Product Stewardship Institute. We are also an Advisory Board Member for the Ocean Plastics Leadership Network and on the Stewardship Council of their Refill/Reuse Action Forum, a member of the Conscious Beauty at Ulta Beauty™ Advisory Council and the Planet Forward Advisory Council, a special advisor to the Sustainability Board of The Hut Group, a World Economic Forum (WEF) Young Global Leader, and Co-Chair of WEF’s Consumers Beyond Waste initiative.
