Please note that volunteer administrators (not TerraCycle) manage drop-off points. The administrators choose the location, hours, and accepted waste streams. Please contact the administrator if you have questions about or suggestions for a specific drop-off location.
Let us know if you find a location that is no longer active by emailing us at mapupdates@terracycle.com.
Being a public drop-off location is an easy and efficient way to collect contact lenses and blister packs, build the national recycling network, and offer a valuable service to your community.
When your office is accepted into the retail program, the address listed with your account will post to the interactive public map of drop-off locations on the Bausch + Lomb Every Contact Counts Recycling Program page so individuals and community members can find you to drop off their collections.
You will be able to ship the packaging your location collects to TerraCycle for free.
Use the recycling bin provided by Bausch + Lomb or any collection or recycling bin for collecting at your office. To maximize engagement and visibility, place in a high-traffic area along with additional program support materials provided by Bausch + Lomb including this downloadable “Accepted Waste” poster or your own informational signage.
Once you are ready to ship, pack the accepted waste in any empty box, download a prepaid UPS shipping label to affix to the package, and send to TerraCycle for recycling.
We want to help you turn your public drop-off point into a successful local recycling solution for your community, so we are here to provide resources and guidance through Customer Support.
If you need to update your drop-off address, please contact TerraCycle Customer Support.
Please note: Unfortunately, eye care professionals located in Northwest Territories, Yukon or Nunavut are ineligible to participate in this program at this time.
Starting and managing a TerraCycle public drop-off point is easy and free! See answers to frequently-asked questions here. Can’t find the answer to your question on this page? Learn more about becoming a drop-off point.
It’s quite simple to set up and manage a drop-off point!
Set Up:
Choose a location and receive permission if needed.
Update a new or existing TerraCycle account profile with details about your drop-off location.
Request to join the programs you would like to participate in.
Once you’ve been approved for the programs you requested, set up your drop-off location.
Manage:
Oversee the location (check it is being used properly, that waste is being shipped when collection boxes are filled).
When boxes are filled, seal them, download and affix the prepaid labels, and drop off the boxes at a UPS location.
Continue to join programs of your choosing.
Promote: Spread awareness about your location (as you see fit) to encourage participation.
Allocate: As you accumulate TerraCycle recycling rewards, choose which charities will receive donations from your points.
There are no direct costs to you for running a public drop-off point. Many collectors spend nothing other than their time. You may choose to purchase specific boxes or bins for your drop-off location, but you can also just use extra boxes you have at home.
This program is only available to independent eye care professionals.
You choose which TerraCycle free recycling programs your drop-off point will participate in. Collectors can drop off only the waste accepted in those TerraCycle programs.
Once collected, the contact lenses and blister packs are cleaned and separated by material type. The fibers and plastics are recycled into raw formats that manufacturers use to make new products. Click here to take a virtual tour of our processing facilities.
