Recycling aerosol containers requires special handling. Please take them to a recycling center that is equipped to handle aerosol containers. Use the map below to find recycling centers near you that accept aerosol containers. If you cannot bring your containers to a designated location, you may request a shipping label by joining this program and following the instructions below.

Please note that volunteer administrators (not TerraCycle) manage drop-off points. The administrators choose the location, hours, and accepted waste streams. Please contact the administrator if you have questions about or suggestions for a specific drop-off location.

How it works

Participating is simple and free, but all participants must adhere to strict shipping requirements for this particular program.

Aerosols must be shipped through the Febreze Aerosol Free Recycling Program; labels from other TerraCycle programs must not be used to ship these items.
Other products or packaging cannot be included in the box.
Individual aerosol containers cannot exceed one (1) liter in volume.
Aerosol containers must be empty and have lids, tops, or caps attached when shipped. Aerosols without lids will not be accepted.
Aerosols must be shipped in strong, preferably double-walled, cardboard boxes. Boxes must be in good condition.
The maximum weight of a single filled box is 15 pounds. The maximum box dimension is 24 inches x 24 inches x 18 inches.
Boxes containing aerosols must have a “limited quantity marking” sticker included on the exterior of the shipping box along with the shipping label. This sticker can be downloaded by clicking here.

Collect

Create a TerraCycle account and join this program. Then, reuse any box you have to start collecting your Febreze aerosol containers.

Print your shipping label

When your box is full, sign in to your TerraCycle account to download and print a prepaid shipping label. You will also need to print the limited quantity marking sticker.

Ship

Follow the special shipping requirements above. Then seal your box, affix the prepaid shipping label and limited quantity marking sticker, and send it to us to be recycled.

Febreze has sponsored this free recycling program, so there is no direct cost to you.

We encourage you to ship when your box is full of empty aerosol containers to minimize the transportation carbon footprint for this program. UPS will not accept dripping packages, so please make sure your items are dry.

No, you do not need to clean the packaging before dropping it off, but please remove as much of the remaining product as possible before shipping.
