Many years recycling with Terracycle
I’ve been using Terracycle for maybe 15 years, at least? When I was leading a high school environmental club, we collected plastic waste from the school cafeteria (along with a composting program), teaching the students what was recyclable in our city, and what could go to terracycle (like chip bags). After retiring, my husband and I use the plastic waste box, chips and snack wrappers box, styrofoam box and an everything box. We even built a special recycling closet for the boxes under the stairs in our new home! Now we have so little “trash”, it’s maybe one small bag a month at best. Our daughter ‘s family lives next door, and she brings their packaging to put in our boxes, and they chip in on the cost. I wish there wasn’t so much plastic packaging, and we try to avoid it, but am SO grateful that terracycle exists. Very small price to pay to do our part for the planet (and our grandchildren). Love you, Terracycle!
I upgraded to a larger size!
I bought a small box at first, but it filled up so quickly, that I got the larger box the second time. I am so glad I did. I've been frustrated with my city's recycling program, because it only allows us to recycle a few types of plastic, so I was really happy to see that I could use this opportunity to recycle more plastic. I hate the idea of sending recyclable items to a landfill, so this is a great product for my family. Thank you for the easy options!
I've been struggling to find a way to deal with plastic clamshell containers for berries and similar things. I'm using a small box subscription for two people, and I've managed to reduce a lot of our other plastic packaging. Mainly, I saw in previous comments that the cardboard boxes were being shipped in plastic bags. I'm happy to say that my box came today in a really slick reusable zipper bag! It's clearly inspired from the Loop pilot program, and I'll be sending mine back for re-use soon :) Nice work TerraCycle for hearing your customer comments and making concerted changes!
Fantastic company
I think TerraCycle is one of the best companies on the planet. In the beginning I used many of the Zero Waste Boxes, but have found myself much more aware of what I am buying and how it is packaged, so I have much less waste!! About the plastic packaging, this 'envelope' it comes in can be reused for many purposes around the house, but I usually return it in the box. So no problem. Thank you TerraCycle for existing. It is worth every penny I spend on the boxes.
Reasonable price, great addition to any home.
Two person home, takes us just over 7 months to fill a medium size box. A small price to pay for the planet.
